In episode 94 the third chair is filled by Owen Staton. Owen Staton is a Welsh Storyteller, actor and writer who has been a Gamer for 28 years. He has been a long time contributor to the D6 Generation through his segments "Words from Wales."  Recently he  published a CD of his own Stories from Welsh folklore called "Tales from the New Inn". He is handsome in a rugged sort of way and has a morbid fear of Taxidermy.

It's been awhile since we disucess miniature games so we decided to discuss three new miniature releases that have been active in our local gaming groups.  Russ discusses his thoughts on Warmachine Wrath (with a few comments on Hordes Domination), Owen shares his thoughts on the Warhammer Fantsay Battles campaign book "Badlands" and Craig gives us his thoughts after a couple plays of the new miniature war game Mercs.

But first the crew discusses their top gaming related moments of 2011.

In episode 93 the third chair is filled by Stephen Buonocore. Stephen is the co-owner of Stronghold Games, which was formed only 2 years ago, but has already made a big impact in the hobby game industry by publishing great reprints (such as “Survive!” and “Outpost”) as well as great new game designs (such as “Panic Station” and “Core Worlds”).

Fantasy Flight has recently re-release A Game of Thrones, the board game in a new 2nd edition.  Is it better than the original?  What has changed?

But first, with Stephen on the show we just had to ask, what are the Perils of Publishing?  How does a game go from idea to a pretty box on a store shelf.

In episode 91 the third chair is filled by Ross Watson.  A gaming industry professional for over 10 years, Ross Watson has done work for Wizards of the Coast, Games Workshop, Fantasy Flight Games and now is a designer for video games.

First up, Ross, Craig, and Russ are joined by Teras of Geek Nation Tours to talk about Gaming Conventions. Why do we go to them?  What are the different kinds of conventions?

Later the guys get a chance to interview Ed "Not the Lord of Winterfell" Stark.  Ed is true RPG luminary and we get his perspective on where RPG's have been, where they're going, and even the inside scoop on some of the D&D 3.5 to 4.0 design decisions.

The time we all knew would come, but pretended would never arrive: Raef's last episode as a host.  Russ and Craig, with the help of the D6G listeners and Mr. Lipton, travel down memory lane with Hollywood and attempt to send him off in style.

And later.. enough with the mushy stuff, it's time for Pirates!!  The D6G team takes to the high seas with the latest Games Workshop board game modeling mega-box: Dreadfleet.

Extra Life is a great gaming charity event that was started by Sarcastic Gamer as a way to encourage video gamers to have fun and raise money for kids who face battles with medical problems in hospitals around the world.

Gamers pick their hospital, pledge to play games for 24 hours, and try to get sponsors to donate as little as $1 per hour.  It's all done electronically via the Children's Miracle Network and 100% of every dollar donated makes it to the hospitals and the kids.

In 2010, the folks at Game Salute started encouraging any kind of gamer to get involved.  Board games, card games, RPG's, whatever.  And we at the D6 Generation thought ... Brilliant!  We're in.  So we're back this year to do it again!

If you'd like to help, there are a couple of options.

Option 1: Sponsor to your favorite D6G Personality

Craig's Extra Life Donation Page: Click Here

Raef's Extra Life Donation Page: Click Here

Russ's Extra Life Donation Page: Click Here

Nicole's Extra Life Donation Page: Click Here

Option 2: Participate yourself!

Come on, you're a gamer!! Why not sign up, get a pledge or two, and have a GREAT excuse to game all day!

To join, head on over to the Game Salute page as it will tell you how to jump in AND how to get on the same team as the D6 Generation.  And you never know, there is a good chance we'll be sending out some prizes to the folks on our team that do well.  Click here for more info on how to get involved.
